Most wedding stress comes from doing things in the wrong order. Families book décor before they have fixed the guest count, or leave the caterer until the venue has already imposed conditions. Here is the order that works, written for weddings in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

6 Months Before
- Fix the dates and the functions. Which ones are happening, and on which days — haldi, mehendi, sangeet, wedding, reception
- Settle a rough guest count. Every other decision and every price depends on this number
- Book the venue, and ask one question before signing: is outside catering allowed? Many banquets restrict it, which decides your entire food plan
- Set a working budget split across food, décor, music and photography. Food is usually the biggest line — see the cost guide
4 to 5 Months Before
- Book the caterer and the décor team. In peak season (November to February, and April to May) good teams are taken months ahead
- Book photography and, if you want one, the pre-wedding shoot
- Decide the food style per function — a light continuous spread for haldi, a full dinner for the wedding
- Start outfits and jewellery, since tailoring runs longer than anyone expects
3 Months Before
- Do the menu tasting and lock the dishes per function
- Finalise the décor theme and colours — mandap and stage, entrance, and how much of it is fresh flower work
- Book DJ, live artists or an anchor, and dhol and band
- Send invitations, and start a proper guest list rather than a mental one
- Arrange rooms for guests travelling in
1 Month Before
- Confirm the guest count with your caterer, so quantities and staffing are planned properly
- Agree the running order for each function — entry, rituals, speeches, cake or varmala, dinner
- Walk the venue with your vendors. Where the kitchen goes, where the stage faces, where the power comes from
- Sort venue rules: setup and clearing times, noise cut-off, open flame, parking
- Plan the bridal entry and anything needing a rehearsal
1 Week Before
- Give the venue your vendor staff list — names and vehicle numbers for gate passes, especially in societies and townships
- Share one contact number per family with every vendor, so nobody is calling five people
- Confirm final numbers again — they always move in the last week
- Check weather plans for any outdoor function, and confirm the covered alternative
- Arrange the vidaai car decoration and anything needed at dawn on the last day
On the Day
Hand the coordination to someone else and go be with your family. That is the whole point of booking a team. A supervisor should be on site from setup to clearing, so questions about counters, music cues and timings go to them and not to the bride’s father.
If You Have Less Time Than This
Plenty of weddings come together in six weeks, and we have done them. The order stays the same, the gaps just compress: venue and guest count first, caterer and décor immediately after, everything else in parallel.
