Food Cost at Starting Rates
- 200 guests: from about ₹1,79,800 veg, or about ₹2,79,800 non-veg
- 500 guests: from about ₹4,49,500 veg, or about ₹6,99,500 non-veg
- 1,000 guests: from about ₹8,99,000 veg, or about ₹13,99,000 non-veg
Add 5% GST to those figures. They are the starting menu, and they already include chefs, uniformed staff, crockery, counters and cleanup. A richer menu with more starters, more live counters and premium items sits above this.
For a smaller function — a haldi lunch, a mehendi afternoon or a family get-together — party catering starts lower, at ₹549 veg and ₹659 non-veg.
What Else Goes Into a Wedding Budget
Food is usually the largest single line, but not the only one. The rest is quoted to your plan, and most of it does not scale with guest count the way food does:
- Decoration: mandap or stage, entrance gate, flowers, drapes and lighting — priced by the setup, not per guest
- DJ, sound and lighting, and live artists or an anchor if you want them
- Tent, tables, chairs and sofas for lawn and farmhouse venues
- Generator and venue lighting, essential for farmhouse functions
- The other functions: haldi, mehendi, sangeet and the reception, each with its own food and décor
Three Ways to Control the Cost
Cut the guest list before you cut the menu. Fifty fewer guests saves more than downgrading every dish, and nobody notices a shorter list the way they notice thin food.
Fewer counters, done properly. Three busy live counters feel more generous than seven half-attended ones, and cost less.
Book the functions together. Haldi, mehendi, sangeet and the wedding with one team means one setup crew, shared equipment and a single coordinator, instead of paying four vendors to arrive separately.
